Hot Spots

If bars and clubs are what you want to see, then go to Causeway Bay, Wan Chai or Kowloon. These are the areas with the highest concentration of bars and clubs. Wan Chai is famous (or shall we say notorious?) for its nightlife, which borders on the raunchy and wild – with quite a number of girlie bars. These are mainly located on Luard and Lockhart roads. Causeway Bay, on the other hand, offers a diverse selection of lively pubs, bars and karaoke clubs. In Kowloon, head for Tsim Sha Tsui and then strait to Knutsford Terrace, Knutsford Steps, Hart avenue, Ashley Road or Prat Avenue.

Live Music & Bars

Live music… Hong Kong is brimming with it! It is virtually in all hotel cocktail lounges, bars and restaurants. What’s more, most of the establishments do not charge anything for you to enjoy the music. Although some bars levy a cover charge.

You can relax and unwind while listening to live music in bars, clubs, lounges and restaurants. In Kowloon, you can go to Hard Rock Café, Ned Kelly’s Last Stand, Chasers, Lobby Lounge (in the Hotel InterContinental Hong Kong), Sabatini, Gaddi’s, Hugo’s and Avenue Restaurant and Bar. The last four are restaurants.

In Central, there is Insomnia, Captain’s Bar, Petrus, and Mandarin Grill. In Causeway Bay, go to ToTT’s Asian Grill & Bar. Head for to The Wanch, Joe Bananas, or Dusk till Dawn in Wan Chai. At Victoria Peak, listen and dine at The Peak Lookout and Café Deco.

Dance Clubs & Nightclubs

Dance the night away!

There are plenty of choices to do this in Hong Kong. Take your pick. There are some bars that transform into intimate dance clubs during weekends and late at night. There are also some hip clubs that are all the rage in the Hong Kong club scene. These trendy clubs mainly serve their own members, but they also let some nonmembers in, if you get lucky. To increase your chances of getting into these kind of bars (membership clubs, that is), come on a weeknight or early in the evening (when business is slow), dress to the max, and make nice with the doorman.

You can pay the admission price, which throws in one ore two drinks. If you want more, take note that mixed drinks and beer usually cost the same. In general, Hong Kong’s dance clubs and discos charge more during weekends. There usually are no cover charges for bars, whether they have live music or DJs.

Strip Clubs

If you are into the raunchy and the steamy, here are some clubs for you.
