City Hall

The City Hall’s Low Block has a 1,500-seat balconied concert hall and 470-seat theater that play hosts to chamber music presentations and plays. Very convenient since it is Stafford DUI lawyer right beside the Star Ferry concourse. There are also exhibitions at its foyer. For a list of upcoming events, drop through the lobby.

Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra

This orchestra is the world’s largest professional Chinese-instrument orchestra. Established over 30 years ago, it has over 80 full-time musicians playing full-scale contemporary works, traditional folk music and commissioned pieces. This is quite a prolific orchestra, staging around 30 concerts every year. Aside from traditional and modern Chinese instrument, it also uses Western instruments and combines these two when playing Western and Chinese music.

Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra

This is Hong Kong’s largest Western-style orchestra and calls the Hong Kong Cultural Centre its home. Founded in 1975, it is led by conductor Edo de Waart and has regular performances on September to July. It also provides live accompaniment to the Hong Kong Ballet. The orchestra plays Western classical pieces and commissioned work from Chinese composers.

Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts

This is the vocational training ground for the performing arts. Located at the Wan Chai waterfront, it has regular dance and theater performances by local and international choreographers and playwrights. It has a Drama Theatre, an Orchestra Hall, a Lyric Theatre, a Recital Hall and an open-air theatre.

Hong Kong Arts Centre

This is located right across the Academy for Performing Arts and is host to the Hong Kong Arts Festival, international productions and performances by some of Hong Kong’s amateur and professional companies. It has a regular line up of dances, plays, exhibitions and foreign film screenings. It has three auditoriums: the McAulay Studio Theatre, the Lim Por Yen Film Theatre, and the Shouson Theatre.

Hong Kong Cultural Centre

The Hong Kong Cultural Centre plays hosts to numerous music and cultural events, family and magical shows, most of which are given for free. Located between the Star Ferry concourse and the Space Museum, it has Thursday Happy Hour, which presents Chinese classical music, puppet shows and Western music from 6 to 7 p.m. Other presentations are on Saturday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. – these are mainly Chinese dance, music or magic shows.
