This long open stretch of ground has been the site of many significant national and colonial events in the history of Singapore. Padang’s well tended lawns are a favorite place for locals to gather and watch rugby, football and cricket games. In fact the Singapore Recreation Club and the Singapore Cricket Club struts its stuff in this field.
