About Sapa
Sapa is a charming village that lies on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Situated in north of Vietnam, Sapa is renowned for the magnificent scenery with it’s rice terraces, lush vegetation, but also for its rich cultural variety. This mountain range was called "the Tonkinese Alps" by the French. The area around Sapa is the home for many hill tribes such as the Hmong and the Dao.
In the winter time, Sapa often gets cold and wet. Bring along warm clothes if you travel to Sapa during this time.

Getting there
The best way to get to Sapa is by train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. The train ride takes about 9-10 hours. If you want to travel with style, make sure to book with the Victoria train. From a Vietnamese standard, the Victoria train is very expensive (around US$60 one way), but the luxury is worth it. A soft sleeper is a good alternative if you are not up for spending that kind of money.
From Lao Cai station it is a one hour bus ride to Sapa town.
